Shimla Tourist Spot Himachal Pradesh


The Shimla district ,situated in the northwest Himalayas,derives its name from Goddess Shyamala Devi,a manifestation of Goddess Kali . Once famous as the Summer capital of the "The Raj". Shimla today is the thriving capital of Himachal Pradesh . This beautiful city is famous for its snow capped peaks ,orchards , pine forests , flowers  and friendly residents .

Hiking down the famous Mall Road is a common activity here . One of the many interesting sights in Shimla is its many hues from spring flowers to autumn leaves .With a combination of gentle breeze in summer and snows in winter and awe - inspiring green surroundings. Shimla is truly a ' Destination for all seasons' .A major attraction here is the Kalka- Shimla toy train which passes through 103 tunnels and 969 bridges via lush green valleys .

Directions to Reach the Shimla : 

By Air:

Shimla has its own airport at Jubbarhatti about 23 km from the city center and can be easily reached by air .Many airlines operate flights from New Delhi to Shimla and to Kullu .

By Rail:

The nearest railway station which connects Shimla to the neighbouring states is at Kalka . About 4 trains operate daily between Kalka and Shimla and the journey takes around six hours .The train from Delhi to Kalka is an over nighter and reaches Kalka early morning .

By Road:

Shimla is well connected to neighbouring places like New Delhi ( takes 8 hours) and Chandigarh . The highways  are well maintained and many private buses are available to this beautiful hill station .
